Vintage signed photograph with posted envelope, James Edward Sanders, New Zealand World War II reconnaissance and shipping strike pilot. Signed and mailed May 27, 1985. From the collection of American collector Richard Calow. Date photograph was actually taken is not known here. 8 1/16" x 4 1/8" photograph, signed at obverse (see scan), is in Fine condition, and shows Sanders presenting a portrait of an unidentified aircraft (possibly a variant of the Blenheim) to four aviators. Envelope it which it was mailed by Sanders has the addresses name and address excised (scan), otherwise also Fine, with canceled 58-cent Christchurch Electric stamp. James Sanders piloted the Bristol Blenheim, Handley Page Halifax, and Martin Baltimore aircraft on reconnaissance missions and night shipping strike missions during World War II, for the RNZAF. He later became an accomplished artist, cartoonist, and advertising executive. Provenance regarding collector Calow as the source is available to purchaser upon request.
