About This Item

New York: Praeger Publishers. Very Good+ in Good dust jacket. 1969. First American Edition. Hardcover. Franz Farga (1973 - 1950) was born in Bohemia and was a well-known author who settled in Vienna in the 1920's; he devoted most of his life to the study of music theory and history. In this uncommon book he covers the history of the violin and violin makers in the first half of his book, and devotes the last half to the history of prominent violinists. This appears to be the first American edition. Original black cloth publisher's covers with gilt spine lettering. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings (with the exception of a previous owner's name on the front paste down) and no bookplates. The dust jacket has a chip to the front that also extends to a portion of the top of the spine, else it is in serviceable condition. ; B&W Photos & Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 247 pages .
