About This Item
Wallington, Eng.: Severn House, 1991. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good +/Very Good +. This title was first published as a paperback in 1983. This is the first printing in hard cover. The interior of the book is fresh and crisp. The free front end paper shows an indentation where a price has been erased, but no other marks. The black cloth covers show minor wear at tips and corners. The gilt lettering is bright. The dust jacket is not price-clipped, and is in similarly excellent condition. It is now in a protective plastic cover and looks very attractive. Synopsis: Lord Charles Hawksborough desperately wanted to catch the infernally insolent thief who had held him up at pistol point on the King's highway and ridden off with his family's fabled jewels. With his marriage to the beautiful and suitable Lady Mary Dane rapidly approaching, he just as desperately wanted to be rid of the penniless Miss Amanda Colby when this young lady and her twin brother came to stay at the height of the London season. For her part, Amanda hoped that Hawksborough would never discover that she was the thief, or that she was coming to love him.
