This is a biography of Francis McLean, a social welfare pioneer, the first executive director of the National Association of Societies for Organizing Charity, the forerunner of the Family Service Association of America; the author, an associate and friend of McLean's, was the executive director of the Family Service of Philadelphia; includes frontispiece portrait of McLean; inscribed by the author on the front endpaper (green cloth with gold lettering, tan endpapers, has slight edgewear; otherwise a bright, clean, tight copy)
