No publication date in book, but publisher was at Astor Place address 1881-1893, so circa 1892. Only date in book is foreword, 1814. Hardcover is three-quarter bound in brown leather over green, black and white marbled boards. Gilt spine decorations in five panels, with gilt lettering on a dark brown leather label in a sixth panel. Top page edges are gilt. Deckle fore and bottom edges. Brown and white marbled endpapers. Translated by The Rev. H. F. Cary, A.M. NOT ex-library. Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked. Leather is rubbed at the corners, spine ends, and lightly at the edges. There three small sharp nicks on the front cover in the marbled area. Covers have moderate edge wear and surface rubbing. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Four pages have brown smudges in the margins. Four page have tears at the fore edge and bottom edge from being cut open carelessly; one tear has affected the text. One page is dog eared. X, 452 pages. No frontispiece. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box. This item will be shipped with signature confirmation required.
