Boston : Oliver Everett, 1824 . Pamphlet. Very good. Small 4to, trimmed, removed from a larger volume, with kerfs and stitching visible. 12pp + front wrapper. Complete, with light toning along top border of title page. Printed at the Press of the North American Review. Ware Jr., an influential Unitarian theologian was a professor of Harvard Divinity School and mentored Ralph Waldo Emerson when Emerson studied for the ministry in the 1820s. (His father, Henry Ware , Sr., Hollis Chair of Divinity, helped staked a Unitarian claim at Harvard v. the Calvinist influence). Ware was minister of the Unitarian Second Church in Boston at the time of this recitation, until 1830 when Emerson replaced him.
The 20-stanza poem was written in honor of Lafayette's 1824 American tour.
