Oxoniae, E Theatro Sheldoniano, 1723.. FIRST EDITION 1723, Latin and Arabic parallel text in 2 columns per page, folio, approximately 360 x 230 mm, 14 x 7 inches, large engraving of the Sheldonian on the title page, pages: (8), xxii, [2], 1-160, complete with half-title, bound in old quarter calf over speckled boards, gilt lettered label. Binding worn, covers rubbed and scraped, hinges starting to crack but still holding firmly, page edges untrimmed and slightly dusty, light brown staining to corners of endpapers, rear endpaper slightly creased, contents unmarked. A good clean copy. The author of this life of Mohammed Ismael Abu'l-Feda (1273-1331) from whose "Annals" this work is taken, was a Kurdish historian, geographer and local governor of Hama. He was a prince of the Ayyubid dynasty and the author of The memoirs of a Syrian prince: Abu'l-Fida', Sultan of Hamah. The crater Abulfeda on the Moon, is named after him. (Wikipedia).
