Library rebound in quarter leather with brown cloth boards and gilt titles on spine, library name in gilt on front right corner, 14” x 9". Vol I 622pp; Vol II 703pp. Title page of vol I in red and black, fold out genealogical plate, engraved portrait and some engraved chapter ornaments throughout. Index of important characters and list of subscribers. Some pagination errors. Title page of vol I has a small professional repair to top (see pictures) and a contemporary handwritten name in ink, one other professionally repaired tear. The bindings are firm with minor shelf wear, inner books have a little foxing and signs of age, but generally in very good condition +. Ex reference library with minimal markings, pictorial bookplate on the front pastedown and discreet name on cover in gilt, no other obvious markings. Written in Latin and French. A wide ranging account of the life, reign and ultimate demise of Mary Queen of Scots.***Over 1kg and may require additional overseas postage, please contact for cost***.
