Folding map: 9 engraved plates of which five are folding. A synopsis of twenty three voyages in an attempt to discover the Northwest passage. Transformative voyage under Captains Moore and Smith with Arthur Dobbs who served as hydrographer, surveyor and mineralogist -- the leading subscriber for this privately financed journey -- that finally proved the nonexistence of a North West passage.
