Colour illustrated title page and all the coloured illustrations within the book has been executed by V. A. Poirson (all the illustrations that are in colour are bright clean and crisp) there are also the occasional black and white illustration. Bottle green coloured cloth covered boards with gilt and red coloured illustration and gilt coloured embossed titles to the front panel and gilt illustration and titles to the back strip. To the top and to the rear edge of the book (wraparound) are leather 'straps' with gilt illustration of anchors – please see photograph. Gilt to the top text block edge. A late 19th century French publication of Gulliver's travels illustrated. PLEASE NOTE: The text is in French. Softening with rubbing to the back strip edges and bumping and light fraying of the book corners. Rubbing and slight bumping of the lower book edges with, surprisingly, little rubbing to the panels. The leather "straps" have become a little rubbed and have cracked at the spine gutter edges. The book has been rebound, as was usual in 19th-century France – the book was published as a paperback, and, then bound in hardback at the owner's behest and wants. The original back strip and front cover of the paperback binding has been bound in with the book – please see photograph, at the beginning of the text. A black ink stain to the front edge of the free front endpaper and all edges show bleeding of the leather to the endpapers. Browning and faint foxing of the text block edges, with age toning and scattered foxing to the pages, predominantly at the front and end of the book. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
