Early lithograph view by Brocas after Edouard de Montulé of the harbor of Charlotte Amalie, approx. 11" x 13¼" overall (image approx. 6" x 9"); light wrinkles, very good. Plate no. 7 extracted from Montulé's Voyage en Amérique, en Italie, en Siciel et en Égypte, pendant les années 1816, 1817, 1818 et 1819 (Paris, 1821). Charles Philibert du Saillant, Comte de Lasteyrie was a lithographic pioneer, draughtsman, printer and publisher. Trained in Munich 1812-1814, he established a press in Paris 15 April 1816. Gradually retired from printing business after 1818, though publications under his name continue to 1825.
