London, Gollancz, 1996.. FIRST EDITION 1996, oblong 4to, 230 x 260 mm, 9 x 10¼ inches, colour illustrated glazed boards, no pagination. Wonderful coloured illustration to every page, usual diminutive large headed people. Rollicking verse by Gerrard. Rowdy adventure of family and neighbours embarking on wild journey on the Oregon Trail. No inscriptions, very small slight erasure to front endpaper, otherwise a Fine crisp copy (no dustwrapper issued). Gerrard (b. Lancashire 1935) trained at Salford School of Art. In 1979 he gave up teaching to paint full time. His second book The Favershams (1982) won the New York Times Best Illustrated children's book of the year in 1982 and the Bologna Children's Book Fair prize in 1983.
