New York: Ticknor & Fields, 1985. First edition. A tale of domestic terrorism in the gritty streets of 1980s New York. INSCRIBED BY BELL on title page, "For Uncle Walter/ & Aunt Jane/ who taught me some of/ everything I know/ Madison Smartt Bell." Walter Sullivan (1924-2006) was an author, critic, longtime Vanderbilt University professor, authority on Southern literature and one of the founding members of The Fellowship of Southern Writers to which Bell was elected for membership in 2003. His wife, Jane Harrison Sullivan (1923-2022), taught English literature at Aquinas College. Near fine with text block slightly tanned; in near fine dust jacket with few minor creases and rubs.
