About This Item
NY: Twayne Publishers, (1949.) 1st edition. Signed on the front endpaper by Laing, a Welsh-American poet associated with the Dartmouth group. There is also a signed, laid-in note from her mother, Eve Bennett. On a folded sheet that includes a photocopy of a Christmas card design drawn by a young Dilys in 1925. This book was given to the recipient of the note by "Mr. West." (i.e., Herbert Faulkner West, a longtime professor of comparative literature at Dartmouth.) 64 pp. Slender 8vo clothbound hardcover. VG in lightly worn and price-clipped dust jacket. Abrasions on the front pastedown from removal of a bookplate or other item. Unobtrusive and partly hidden by the jacket flap. Prior owner has circled in ink the titles of three poems, (pp., 15, 28 and 45.) Clean internally otherwise. Sound binding. A nice signed copy with a unique association.
