London: Daldy, Isbister & Co., 1876. A rare edition of this classic, much reprinted, Victorian guide to Rome in a deluxe version containing original photographs of buildings and art treasures. Hare's guidebook is "regarded by many as responsible for forming the contemporary view of Rome in the English-speaking world" (See: Nilsen, Nineteenth-Century Photographs and Architecture, 2017). Small cracks to the front hinge of each volume. OCLC lists only Harvard and BL for this edition.
