New York: McClure, Phillips & Co, 1901. First Edition. Very Good. First edition, first printing of the author's first book. Signed by Edwin Lefevre and inscribed on the front free endpaper, written beneath an ownership signature. 224pp + [6pp] ads. Bound in publisher's original dark green ribbed cloth with upper board ruled in blind and titles stamped in gilt on upper board and spine. Very Good with slight lean to binding, shallow wear to spine ends and corners, front inner hinge is exposed and slightly tender, pages tanned and pages 210 and 211 are chipped at the bottom corner. A collection of short stories inspired by real events, this was the first book by acclaimed Wall Street writer Edwin Lefevre.
