A critical examination of some sections of "Specimen Days" against the journalistic, daybook / notebook, and contemporary correspondence record of Whitman's 1879 trip to Kansas, Denver and the Rockies. An interesting, well researched work which clearly points out when poetic license is exercised and to what extent. No previous ownership marks. A clean, square, fresh and unmarked copy. Small retail price sticker from the Strand bookstore in NYC inside front cover, else as new. Near fine in an as new dust-jacket. .
