New York: WM. Elliot / Tontine Coffee House, 1812. 12mo, 36pp. A clean, if fragile copy, near fine in the original self-wrappers. Contemporary owner's name inked on the title page (D. Gardiner). Removed quite neatly from a sammelband. Scarce pamphlet, published at the Tontine Coffee House, a busy spot founded by a group of investors which would eventually evolve into the New York Stock Exchange. The pamphlet discusses various economic trends which can be traced to the young American nation's lack of trade with the United Kingdom. This strained relationship would result in the War of 1812 later that same year. Sabin 85; Shaw/Shoemaker 25559.
