Very good +. 8vo., 389 + 2 pp. publishers ads, 16 full page illustrations including frontispiece. -- 2nd issue binding with blue cloth boards; front upper cover lettered in blind with color pictorial illustration pastedown of a battleship inside a double ruled border, gilt lettering to the spine, imprint in blind. -- Illustrated by A. C. Michael. -- Frontispiece partially loose from the binding (appears its gluing dried out), needs to be tipped back in). Bottom front edges lightly soiled, light rubbing to the extremities. -- Signed by the author with the following note: "The Role of America among nations is the Propaganda of Peace & Republicanism". Condition. "A military science fiction novel by H. G. Wells, written in four months in 1907 and serialised and published in 1908 in The Pall Mall Magazine, is like many of Wells's works notable for its prophetic ideas, images, and concepts-in this case, the use of the aircraft for the purpose of warfare and the coming of World War I"-wikipedia.
