Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1883. Hardcover. Small 4to. Black cloth with gilt spine lettering. vi, 801pp. Good plus. Edgeworn and slightly bumped and rubbed; unfortunate silver dollar-size paper loss at upper left edge of front flyleaf and inner flyleaf. Tight, decent first edition of this volume in what's known as the "Official Records" or simply the "O.R." Contains Chapters XIX ("Operations in Southeastern Virginia. January 11 -- March 17, 1862"), XX ("Operations in North Carolina. January 11 -- August 20, 1862") and XXI ("Operations in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. February 1 -- September 20, 1862"). Front pastedown bears interesting bookplate of "Post Library / Fort Coeur d'Alene" and front flyleaf bears accompanying "Post Library / Coeur D'Alene / Idaho / Nrs. 188" in brown 19th century ink.
