A deluxe Franklin Library first edition of a collection of diary entries and correspondence between Anne Morrow Lindbergh and family and friends during World War II. With a facsimile copy of a two-page letter and a section of black & white photos. With a special introductory note by the author and a drawn portrait of the author and her famous aviator husband Charles. Issued as part of the publisher's First Edition Society series which preceded the Harcourt Brace Jovanovich trade edition. One of an unspecified number in publisher's limited edition series. --- Bound in full burgundy bonded leather covers with four raised bands on spine. Text presented on quality papers. Spine titling, elaborate decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges all in bright gilt. Burgundy silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon placemarker. Volume lacks a dust jacket (as issued). --- A very nice copy: bright, newish and probably unread, but with a small area of whitish discoloration to lower edge of front cover.
