Illustrator: Illustrated. preface by author, Descendants of Edward III (three-page foldout), list of illustrations, note from sources and index. Map illustrated endpapers, showing a list of places in both England and France that were important to Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece showing Battle of Barnet; where Edward is shown overcoming Warwick. The text is illustrated with 11 black-and-white contemporary illustrations and one map. Dark rose coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. The biography of Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick called the Kingmaker. During the unruly 15th century England in the grip of the War of the Roses, he strode the political scene like a giant, and his fall was just as large. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges; with rubbing to the back strip edges, panels and book edges. Almost complete fading of the titling to the back strip. Light browning of the text block edges with age toning of the pages. Previous owners name to the top left hand corner of the half title page. There are some stains to the book pages; and, the edge of the fold out page of the Descendants of Edward III has become creased and somewhat crumpled. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
