About This Item
London & Sydney: B.T.Batsford Ltd, 1975. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7?" - 9?" tall. Type: Hard Back Second Impression, 1975. First published 1973. Hardcover Book and Jacket in Very Good Condition. 215 pp. 31 illustrations and maps. Vivian Bird takes the reader to the not over-familiar sites (such as Stratford-upon Avon, Compton Wynyates, Kenilworth castle, etc.,) but to lesser known but equally unique places, such as Packwood House, Arbury Hall, Radway, Beaudesert, Mancetter, and others. She is concerned not just with the toptgraphical aspects but with the biographical and historical associations, such as Dr. Jephson and Leamington's rise as a spa; the Civil War battle at Edgehill; the royal visits; and other notables--Shakespeare, Joseph Arch, Piers Gaveston, Rubert Brooke, and others. Book is bound in forest-green cloth w/gilt titles, very clean with two darker half-circles at lower edge; bottom front corner gently bumped. Tight, solid, and square, with sewn binding. Interior is pristine. Clean jacket with illus of Compton Wynyates, with a bare touch of edgewear; backside has darker areas at top and bottom edge. Jacket is price-clipped. B. T. Batsford, London & Sydney, 1975.
