Very Good/Good. 321 pp. Dust jacket edgeworn with some paper loss at head of spine and top of front panel, flaps taped to pastedowns, bookplate on front pastedown, spine a bit cocked, binding tight, text clean, foxing to endpapers from dust jacket tape. Winner of the 1946 Harper Prize for novels, author's first. From the d.j.: " a monumental psychological study in family relationships, and something of a masterpiece in its ability to evoke the emotional frustrations of Jewish life in America.".
