About This Item

New York, NY, U.S.A.: Forge Books, 2001. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. 8 1/2 h x 5 1/2w. A real nice clean unmarked 288 page first edition. The Civil War has ended and Union soldiers and federal officials have taken control of Texas as Rusty Shannon rides to his home on the Colorado River. This is the third novel in Elmer Kelton's brilliant series about the Texas Rangers, and in Rusty Shelton, he has created one of the most memorable characters in modern western fiction.

Reviews

On Apr 9 2020, a reader said:
Rusty Shannon's life becomes even more entwined with Andy Pickard's, Badger Boy, as Texas is filled with outlaws, ex Confederate raiders, Indian raids, and the KKK. Elmer Kelton has given us what Texas was like during this period of history like few other authors ever have. I can endorse this book a lover of the Old West--the historical Old West--not some imaginary place filled with unrealistic characters and violence.
