Errata leaf tipped in before the Author’s Preface. Printed ‘Presented by the Author’ at head of title-page which is in line with its being printed for private circulation. Edges uncut. For more on this prominent scientist and political/social figure in Australia see http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/smith-john-4608 First Edition. Head and foot of spine and corners of boards rubbed; a few small stains to cloth and to the edges, and a little foxing, mainly to the edges; rear inner hinge splitting; a very good copy.
