About This Item

Boston, MA: Light & Stearns, 1 Cornhill, Facing Washington St, 1837. 9.5 x 15.5 cm. A thoroughly annoying little book of advice. How to live on not much, with lectures laid in for those who have means, as well. Don't have more lodging than you need-- three rooms should suffice. In that way you save on furniture, and you will not need servants. You must not go ""gadding"" at night when you should be home getting a good night's rest. Besides, ""gadding"" may be cause for chills and consumption.Besides if you are out at night you might get robbed, or your house might catch fire and burn down. Having guests at night can bring the same sad outcome. As to eating and drinking-- water is best; you should avoid cider, coffee and tea. Baked breads and shortbreads are known to cause consumption. Paper booklet, good. . Catalogs: Educational.
