Illustrated with about two dozen b/w photographs. 264, [1] pages. Scarce. Two copies located on OCLC. A historical presentation of the First Methodist Church of Bakersfield and its people throughout the mid-20th century. Includes a list of ministers since 1870, detailed biographies of the ministers who served between 1936 and 1976, biographies of associate ministers, and 167 pages that provide paragraph or page-long biographies of church members (organized alphabetically) many with notes describing their church involvement, and a collection of accounts of notable church events. The church, now known as First United Methodist Church, was located for many years on Truxton Avenue and relocated to their new facilities on the Stockdale Highway in 1971.
