About This Item

Book is in Near New Condition with crisp tight pages and no writing. There is shelf wear rubbing on cover. Piecework Magazine presents this limited edition, exact reproduction (neither alterations nor corrections were made to the original) of Weldon's Practical Needlework, Volume 7. It is a great example of needlework and history, hand in hand. The book opens a window on another time and another place. The time is the turn of the twentieth century and the place is London, England. In an effort to bring needlework to a then emerging middle class, several companies in the late 1800's in London began publishing patterns and instructions for various needlework projects. Unlike other magazines of their time these publications were devoted solely to needlepoint. Weldon's was one of the most recognized needlework publishers in Victorian England. Each volume consists of 12 issues or one years worth of publications and is filled with hundreds of vintage projects, illustrations, information on little-known techniques, fashion as it was in the late 1800s. Volume 7 includes: Knitting, Crochet, Ivory Embroidery, Mountmellick Work, Crinkled and Crepe Tissue Paper Work, Knick-Knacks, Church Embroidery, Crochet with Coloured Threads and Moulds. How to make Japanese Curtains and Blinds with Coloured Bamboo Reeds and Beads, etc.......With full working Descriptions. Nearly 400 illustrations. 9 1/4" x 12". Weight: 1 lb 14 oz.
