Hilversum: J. E. Onkenhout, 1947. Paperback. Very Good +. 220 p., 6 leaves of folded tables; 25 cm. Grey wrapper with black spine and wrapper title. With: 1 leaf, folded, listing the 10 theses presented, loose. The doctoral thesis in veterinary science presented by N. C. W. Hesse on Feb. 27, 1947, at Utrecht University. Hesse (1904-1962) became a professor of clinical diagnostics and swine internal diseases. In the 1950s, he was known in the United States for having originated the idea of using a hen to calm elephants being transported on planes. Scarce. In Very Good+ Condition: light browning along spine and upper wrapper edges; some upper page corners slightly creased; pages browning; otherwise, clean and tight.
