About This Item
Saint Lucia: Privately Printed, 1937. Paperback. Very Good. The West Indian Enterprise was edited and published by Jean Rhyss cousin, Lily Lockhart of Castries, St Lucia between 1931 and 1937, with some issues featuring hand-drawn illustrations by Lockhart herself. The magazine offers rare insight into the creole community in the West Indies and copies of the magazine remain scarce (no copies listed on WorldCat). This listing is for 55 issues of the monthly magazine The West Indian Enterprise as follows: 1932: all 12 issues; 1933: missing April; 1934: January - June, December; 1935: missing July and November; 1936: 2 copies of January issue, missing September; 1937: January - March. Overall, these issues are in very good condition. A few show a vertical crease to the wraps and text block. A single issue is chipped along the edge of the front wrap and the first few pages.
