Among the highlights noted were the following: a two-volume manuscript of the Grandes Chroniques de France with 10 miniatures by the Virgil Master, Paris, c.1410; an early gothic Psalter with 19 miniatures, Brabant, c. 1250-75; the charter of Godwine, Earl of Kent, to Leofwine the Red, e.1013-20, in Anglo-Saxon; a long-lost portion of the seventh-century Rental of St.Martin's Abbey in Tours, written in Merovingian cursive; documents and charters of King John, Philip Augustus, Ferdinand the Catholic, Sixtus IV, Leo X, and Philip II; manuscripts of texts by Vegetius, St.Bernard, Wolfram von Eschenbach, Raymond of Penafort, Walter Burley, and Michele Zopello; cuttings from the Speculum Humanae Salvationis and of a Perugian Matricola, both with miniatures; five thirteenth-century Bibles; three Breviaries; twenty-one Books of Hours from the thirteenth Century to 1568, including examples from Paris, Lyons, Rouen, Tours, Tournai, Ghent, Bruges, Delft, Genoa and Bologna; manuscripts formerly in the libraries of Pope Calixtus III, Archbishop Thomas Rotherham, the Wizard Earl of Northumberland, Prince Fürstenberg, Baron Wolkenstein, the King of Spain, the Duke of Wellington, Apostolo Zeno, Ambroise Firmin-Didot, Sir Thomas Phillipps, Manuel Johnson, the Tarleton family, and the church of St.Michael in Temamang in the province of Gojam; manuscripts in Latin, Greek, Anglo-Saxon, Middle English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Church Slavonic, Coptic, Arabie, and Ge'ez.
