Illustrated throughout with sketches by Mary Seymour Brooks. Bound in rust cloth with printed title labels mounted on front board and spine. In the illustrated dust jacket that shows wear along folds, a faded spine and chips at head and tail of spine. With chapters on the early days of the rich and idle of Santa Barbara and Carmel. The dust jacket features a Mary Brooks pen-and-ink depiction of a classic coastal California scene. Dust jacket now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve.

All books are packed and shipped within 24 hours of receipt of order. Every book is professionally packaged in a heavy cardboard box and shipped via US Postal Service, fully insured. Shipping rates are $3.50 per book; an additional $1 for every book thereafter. Sets and oversized volumes might require additional postage – indication of such will be noted in the book description. Those orders ship at cost. Other shipping modes are available per arrangement. Institutions will be billed per requirements.
