About This Item
Winnipeg, Manitoba: Newman Pub. Co., 1976. Book. Fine. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 201 pages. Black and white reproductions of photos. "This is the unusual story of what happened when an unconventional genius, Dr. Alexander Kasser, came to Northern Manitoba in 1965 in response to an ad for someone to take on the challenge of establishing a viable pulp and paper complex in Northern Manitoba." - page 1. At the time of publication Dr. Kasser was in Austria fighting extradition to Canada for his allegedly criminal conduct in financing this work. "This sweet and sour story of the CFI (Churchill Forest Industries) mill at The Pas has been recorded by 1975 both as a success and as a scandal." - page 1. After millions of dollars in losses over many years the mill was finally closed for good in 2016. Clean, bright and unmarked with negligible wear. Appears unread. An excellent copy..
