About This Item

New York: The Vanguard Press, 1946. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good +/Very Good. 8vo, beige cloth with brown lettering on spine and cover, Mylar-protected typographic dust jacket (unclipped), [vi] + 313 pages. Internally a solid and clean copy. James T. Farrell (1904-1979) was a prolific American novelist, short story writer, and poet well known and valued for his blue-collar, Irish-Catholic Depression-era stories set in Chicago. Farrell's best known works are a trilogy about the tough, gritty, initially promising though progressively tragic life (often autobiographical) of impoverished young, Irish-Catholic Studs Lonigan: Young Lonigan (1931), The Young Manhood of Studs Lonigan (1934), and Judgment Day (1935). The series was made into a film in 1960 and tv series in 1979. The dust jacket of When Boyhood Dreams Come True is in Very Good/Good+ Condition with light soil and chipping plus wear to the front cover. Previous owner's signature on top of front pastedown and name scratched into the bottom edge of the pages.
