Clean green cloth boards; upper horizontal pictorial panel of village and river in black, white and pale blue within black thick rule border, gilt lettering; motif repeated on spine. Very clean and solid; very tiny tear to cloth at spine base corner. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with gilt top page edges. Inscribed and signed by author on front free endpaper: "Frederick Conklin - From one boy to another - by the author - Edwin L. Sabin. Feb. 25th, 1905." Illustrated by Frederic Dorr Steele, including frontis illustration with clean tissue guard. 302 pages + 2 pages of advertising by the publisher at rear of book..
