Orange coloured cloth covered boards with black embossed coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, by Ned Glattauer, with black coloured titles to the front panel and gold and black coloured titles to the backstrip. Air Force Captain Whip Russel was a pilot in the 35th Brigade of B-25 bombers in the Pacific in 1942, they were the proudest of all the American outfits. Then "... Whip and his crew flew in (to the 112th Maintenance Depot, in northern Australia) on a special assignment that was to change the drift of the wall and teach them all a thing or two about victory and defeat in a few other topics as well." -- from the front fold over panel blurb. Softening of the backstrip edges along with a little rubbing. Rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges with flecking marks to the extreme edges of the book. Light browning of the textblock edges and aged toning of the pages. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges. A little fading of the backstrip with marks to the rear panel. Light browning of the verso and there is a small crease to the lower right-hand corner of the rear fold over panel. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 262, [4] pages..
