About This Item

New York: Doubleday, 2018. First Edition, 1st Printing. Fine/Fine. [7.5x5.75in]; 146 pp., many color and black/white images in text, color map of Antarctica; White paper covers on boards, cyanotype image of Antarctic landscape on end papers, all edges trimmed; Light blue white dust jacket with black lettering on front and spine, color image of ice camp and red tent, reviews for book on rear; Negligible shelf wear to book or dust jacket. This is a book about Henry Worsley's life and two fateful journeys across Antarctica. Henry was a distant relative of Frank Worsley, Captain of the Endurance of Ernest Shackleton's Trans-Antarctic Expedition in 1914. Henry was an intense man that, after a career in the British Special Forces, became an Antarctic adventurer and explorer. He felt a strong connection to Shackleton's failed expedition to cross Antarctica, and in 2008 set out with two others to cross the continent with success. Later, in 2015 at age 55, he set out alone to walk/ski across the continent again. A gripping narrative and, from the dust jacket, "... a spellbinding story of courage, love, and a man pushing himself to the extremes of human capacity.
