Whittington Press, Risbury, first edition, de luxe 'A' issue, 1996. One of 28 copies (the "A" de luxe issue) from an edition of 380. Inlaid Oasis leathers with a separate portfolio of ephemera, 34 cm, solander case,. 179, [86] pp, ills (some colour),specimen pages. The most desirable of the various forms in which this fine bibliography was issued, this being the 'A' issue which is attractively bound in dark green Oasis leather with contrasting green and blue inlays to a design by Miriam Macgregor, and with a separate portfolio of Whittington Press ephemera comprising some 44 items. The main volume also includes numerous specimen pages. Compiled by David Butcher; with an introduction and notes by John Randle. "This bibliography lists and describes all the books produced by the Whittington Press between 1982 and 1993, whether printed and published by the Press itself (section I) or for other publishers (section II). The bibliography also records minor publications (section III), catalogues and prospectuses (section IV) and posters and broadsides (section V). It excludes order forms, compliments, slips, letterheadings, Christmas cards and other ephemera, and material printed at printing courses held by the Press. A checklist of the titles printed between 1972 and 1981 is included as an appendix. . ...The physical make-up, illustration and binding of every book is fully described. " - from the introduction. The items in the portfolio include signed proof prints, of illustrations from Whittington books, catalogues of Whittington publications, specimen text-pages, prospectuses, etc. Copy number ix.
