Ownership inscription initial from Dorris Funnye, later Doris Innis, who with her husband Roy was a prominent leader and member of CORE (Congress of Racial Equality)./Very Good jacket, unclipped, with soiling, edgewear, and two small (1") closed tears to rear panel.. First Edition of Dr. King's fourth book, which grew out of his famous and widely published "Letter from Birmingham Jail" (1963). King wrote the book to address and capture the momentum of the movement in the previous year, which he saw as a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights struggle.
