Doubleday, Page & Company, 1917. Hardcover. Near Very Good. A very early edition of this classic work. Originally issued in 1913. No jacket. Title page and pre-lims have foxed and most pages have some age toning. One signature 'overextended' and standing just a bit proud. Still a very tight text block. A previous owners name on inside cover (blank page) - and a faint pencil date of 1917 in margin on page 217 - no other markings. Illustrated with over 150 sketches and b/w photographs. Green cloth binding shows wear along outer spine hinge and foot. Spine title has dulled. An Appendix of Mammals of the Yellowstone Park (in 1912), at rear.226 pages. Protected in a mylar slip.
