This book was prepared by the author, one of America's most prominent big game hunters, naturalists, and conservationists, from the journals of his two expeditions to Mt. McKinley in 1906 and 1907-1908, and after his death in 1928 edited by his friends C. Hart Merriam and E. W. Nelson and published by his wife; after his trips to Alaska, Sheldon proposed and worked for the creation of Mt. McKinley National Park to protect the area and its wildlife; frontispiece portrait of the author and over 100 photos; first edition denoted by "A" on copyright page (green cloth with gold lettering and decoration, very slight edgewear; otherwise a bright, clean, tight copy)
