About This Item

A Bell Book, Farrar, Straus & Giroux, New York, 1969. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). The eleventh printing of the first edition. This copy signed by the author on the title page. Beneath the signature is inked "my mother", and a presentation inscription to the front free endpaper reads: "To Dear Charlie, With wonderful memories of your time at St. Andrews. All the best for the future love Mrs O'Neill" - possibly penned by one of the author's six children. 8vo. 204pp. Blue cloth lettered in silver at the spine. Some tape residue marking to the pastedowns and rear free endpaper. A very good copy in non-price-clipped pictorial dust wrapper, very lightly rubbed and marked at the spine panel. The author's most celebrated novel, a story for children which recounts the true story of how traditional windmills were used by the Dutch resistance for signalling under the noses of German occupiers..
