Finely bound by the Chelsea Bindery in green morocco, spine lettered and decorated in gilt with pictorial centre tools, raised bands, single rule to boards gilt, pictorial onlay of Winnie the Pooh eating out of a honey pot to front board with a further onlay to the back board of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet wandering off into the distance, twin rule to turn-ins gilt, floral endpapers, original map endpaper bound in at front, gilt edges. Illustrated by E. H. Shepard. A fine copy.
Synopsis
The silly, sweet-hearted bear, Winnie and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood, have delighted generations of readers since Winnie-The-Pooh was first published in 1926. The story was inspired by the author, A.A. Milne’s own son, Christopher Robins, and his many furry friends. The tale follows the many adventures of Winnie and his friends, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Kanga, Christopher Robin, and many more. He calls himself a Bear of Very Little Brain, yet he shows faithfully that he is a wise and loving creature, furthermore a whimsical philosopher who is rather fond of honey. Three cheers for Pooh!
