About This Item

London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1927. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's original blue cloth stamped in black. 380 pp + [4] pp publishers ads at rear. A near fine (or better) copy with just a hint of darkening to the spine and with a scattering of minor foxing spots to the top edge. In the VERY RARE D/W priced 7/6 net to the spine (as called for). The D/W is in near fine (or better) condition with no tears, wear or pieces missing and is the nicest copy of this book that I have encountered. It is extremely uncommon in this condition and is an exceptional collector's copy. Scans/photographs available upon request.

Synopsis

Witch Wood is a 1927 novel by John Buchan. It deals with the witchcraft scares of several hundred years ago. It was adapted into a 4-part BBC television series in 1964. It is thought that the inspiration for the location of the novel derived from Kilbucho, an area near Buchan's former home, and that he drew the witchcraft practices depicted within from Margaret Murray.
