Atheneum, 1972. 1st Edition. Hardcover. NF/VG+. RAIBLE, Alton. 1st Edition. 14 x 21.8 cm black cloth with bright yellow titles to the front and spine, bottom edge uncut with bright yellow endpapers, 183(1)pp with 12 full page black and white illustrations by Alton Raible. Original unclipped 1st state dust jacket with $5.25 price. The boards have been well protected by the dust jacket and are clean and bright with firm sharp corners. Internally the book is clean and bright with no name, inscription or bookplate. Minimal toning to the edge of the text block and one page (81/82) poorly opened along the bottom edge and a small 3mm closed tear. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable clear cover (not shown in our images) is bright and clean with a hint of rubbing and creasing along the top edge and a couple of tiny 1-2mm nicks & a corner crease to the front flap. A very nice first edition example of this excellent young adult novel which received a Newbury Honour Citation in 1973.
