About This Item
New York: Viking, 1940. Very good (some sunning to spine and cover edges and irregular browning to page edges; our scanning of the inscription page shows some of that faint browning on the eges, and also shows the publisher's sheet laid in). A thirty-page short story, beautifully printed and bound, in a signed and numbered edition of 350 copies. The original glassine wrapper is present but we have stored it separately because it appears to be connected with the browning. The story is set in an isolated village in the Pyrenees and concerns the effect an American artist has on the community when he unexpectedly appears. A dark study of human frailty -- at least, that's one way to look at it. . Signed by Author. Limited/Numbered. Hard Cover.
