About This Item

Ithaca, New York: Cornell University Press, 1976. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo. [7], 8-300, [4] pp. Bound in brown cloth with black lettering on the spine. Illustrated with several in-text diagrams. Edited by Cora Diamond. From the notes of R.G. Bosanquet, Norman Malcolm, Rush Rhees, and Yorick Smythies. Lapointe 8. Thirty-one lectures on the philosophy of mathematics delivered in 1939, constructed from the notes of four of Wittgenstein's students who attended the lectures. The book captures Wittgenstein's presentations and also include exchanges between Wittgenstein and the students. An exceptionally nice example of this book, which sheds considerable additional light on the views on mathematics developed by Wittgenstein in his own writings. A Near Fine book with a tiny discoloration to the bottom textblock; jacket is Near Fine with minor fading to the spine panel and a spot of foxing to the rear panel.
