About This Item
Woman's Home Companion was an American monthly magazine, published from 1873 to 1957. It was highly successful, climbing to a circulation peak of more than four million during the 1930s and 1940s. The magazine, headquartered in Springfield, Ohio, was discontinued in 1957. This copy of the Woman's Home Companion, October 1931 was published by The Crowell Publishing Company. The magazine, which measures approximately 10 ¾ inches wide by 13 ¾ inches tall by ½ inch thick, contains, in paper covers, 158 pages of text, illustrations, and advertisements all intended to meet the needs of the modern woman. The pages of the magazine are in very good condition, with signs of wear limited to the corners of the pages (e.g., bending); the covers are in fair condition, with small tears and bending along the edges, the remains of a subscriber's mailing label in the lower right front cover, tearing along the spine, and semi-detachment from the body of the magazine.
The illustrations accompanying this description show the Front Cover, the Title/table of Contents page (the scope of article subjects is very interesting), and three (3) typical 2-page spreads of articles.
