First edition with "(1)" at foot of last page, 8vo, 409 pages; green publishers cloth with titles stamped in gilt on spine, top edge gilt, boards slightly rubbed and mild wear at extremities, center crease to spine, hinges slightly starting but firm. Previous owner's name and date at top of front free endpaper, pages lightly toned, margin notations and very occasional underlining on a handful of pages. Despite this, the book is internally fresh with many pages unopened. Now protected on a Mylar cover. Discussions of women's roles in primary industries of the time, such as cigarmaking, cotton, mill operatives, boot and shoe manufacturing, etc. Also addresses the problem of women's wages, public opinion and child labor.
